Mr. Richard Haywood Bauer, age 93, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. He was born to Mr. George Hampton Bauer and Ms. Cora Wilhelmina Engelhardt on Sunday, June 21, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri. Richard leaves his loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.Richard worked as a broadcast television engineer at Channel 4 Dallas for over 40 years. His lifetime hobby was amateur radio (call sign K5RB), and he enjoyed meeting people worldwide on air, at ham fests, and through travel. He was a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Club, St. Paul E&R Church Dallas, and Corinthian Sailing Club at White Rock Lake.He leaves his wife Betty, son Gary (wife Susan), daughter Patty Williams, step-son John Harris, niece Francesca Engelhardt, nephew Bob Sherman, 6 adult grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A family graveside service for Mr. Richard Bauer will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018. For anyone considering flowers, the family would appreciate, instead, a memorial to the charity of your choice.
